Starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, it is the story of a sheltered princess who escapes into the city of Rome and falls in love with an American reporter who knows her true identity. Audrey Hepburn won an Academy Award for Best Actress and Edith Head won for Best Costume Design. This fun and light romantic comedy makes you fall in love with Audrey and Vespas!

Nominated for five Academy Awards, this film is based on the 1961 biographical novel by Irving Stone (who also wrote “Lust for Life”). It stars Charlton Heston as Michelangelo and Rex Harrison as Pope Julius II. This film covers the struggle between Michelangelo and the pope over the painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
This film has many great quotes, including “You dare to dicker with your pontiff?” and “We are harlots always peddling beauty at the doorsteps of the mighty.” This is a long one, so make sure that you have plenty of popcorn!

Based on the best-seller book of the same name by Ayn Rand, it stars Gary Cooper as an idealistic architect who battles corrupt business interests and his love for a married woman (Patricia Neal). There is plenty of “chewing the scenery”, ridiculous architectural renderings and “interesting” shots in this film (especially at the end). If you love drama and the uncompromising spirit of the individual, then this film is for you.

“Marnie is a very difficult picture to classify. It is not Psycho, nor do we have a horde of birds flapping about and pecking at people willy-nilly,” director Alfred Hitchcock says, “One might call Marnie a ‘sex mystery’ that is, if one used such words.”
Starring Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery, it is the story of a deeply troubled woman and the man who wishes to help her (or tame her, depending on how you look at it). This is a difficult picture to classify and at times, a difficult picture to watch. There are times I wish I could reach through the screen and slap Mark Rutland (Connery), especially during the rape scene.
Yes, I said ‘rape scene’. It is when Marnie Edgar (Hedren) is laid down on the bed, frozen with fear and then it cuts to a close-up of Mark. Cutting back to Marnie, the camera then slowly pans to the window and the scene ends.
Darlings, I tell you this only as a warning. If you are sensitive to this, then do not watch it. Otherwise, watch it with the knowledge that Alfred Hitchcock had his own neurosis. This picture is definitely worth a look!
